DESCRIPTION:Free Workshops: October 2017 \nThe Los Angeles Housing & Community Investment Department (HCIDLA) believes in the importance of informing tenants about their rights and responsibilities\, as well as resources available to them as renters. This workshop will focus on becoming a well–informed renter and provide information and handouts with tips on how to build a positive landlord/tenant relationship. Recent changes in the law\, such as the Tenant Buy Out Notification program\, will also be covered. \nLearn how the Rent Stabilization Ordinance (RSO) affects you and how the HCIDLA ensures the safety and habitability of rental units through the Systematic Code Enforcement Program (SCEP). \nThe RSO generally covers rental units built before October 1978\, with the exception of one single-family dwelling on a single parcel. Landlords are required to register all RSO units annually and pay a fee to cover program costs. \nThe workshops will be presented by HCIDLA’s Rent Stabilization and Code Enforcement staff along with the Apartment Association of Greater Los Angeles (AAGLA) and will focus on tenant education. \nRSVP: Online or at 213-928-9075 \n(Free Admission\, seating is limited) \nIf you need translation\, please request it at least three days in advance of the workshop.

The city provided three million dollars to the project through park funds from Councilmembers Krekorian\, Blumenfield\, Ryu and Martinez. These funds will help complete the project’s design and allow it to be shovel-ready for a contiguous bikeway and walkway along the river. \nThe project area encompasses San Fernando Valley from Vanalden Avenue to Forest Lawn Drive/Zoo Drive.

We hope you are able to attend. The meeting begins at 6:30 and the location is: \nSherman Oaks Hospital\nDoctor’s Conference Room\n4929 Van Nuys Boulevard\nSherman Oaks\, 91403 \nThe proposed ordinance comprehensively reorganizes the administrative provisions of the Zoning Code. Currently\, there are over 100 different processes\, which are being proposed to be consolidated down to about 50. The draft ordinance would be the second major deliverable from re:code; the first was the R1 Variation Zones (new single family zones) that went into effect earlier this year. For more information about the ordinance\, please see attached FAQs. \nPlease note that the public comment period for the draft ordinance is open until November 7\, 2017. The ordinance is tentatively scheduled for the December 14th City Planning Comission meeting.
