The Greater Valley Glen Council is pleased to announce the culmination of much effort into the installation of a Butterfly Garden at the Valley Glen Park. This was the vision of GVGC Board Member Alicia Bien who spearheaded the project and volunteered her time with her husband and a neighbor connected to the Theodore Payne Foundation to plant new native plants that attract butterflies in an area of Valley Glen Park where a few butterfly friendly plants were already thriving.
The GVGC funded the purchase of plants that attract butterflies and will add signs about the project on site soon. We were excited to see that during the planting a butterfly was already investigating the garden!
Fun Fact: Valley Glen Park was once a plant nursery, and Theodore Payne worked there in his youth.
