Speakers at Sherocon

The Greater Valley Glen Council was excited to support Sherocon which was held August 1 at the Valley Relics Museum which is located at the Van Nuys Airport. The event is a comic con for young girls, a truly underrepresented group in most events like this. It was a diverse group of kids. They had a lovely step-and-repeat outside, games for the kids to play, and speakers throughout the day.

In additon to speakers, there were vendors and a costume contest. Representatives from all over the Valley were present and we were excited to join Sherman Oaks, Studio City, Van Nuys and Canoga Park to greet attendees.

Though most of the children in attendance were completely unaware of the Valley heritage that surrounded them, the room where the talks were held was lined with old neon signs from restaurants, bars, stores and places of interest from around the Valley, which was really cool to be surrounded by. All of the bright lights were a feast for the eyes, and added to the excitement of the event.

Greater Valley Glen Councilmember Lisa Goich represented us at the event.
